Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of GG-48
For GG-48, Nirvana brought its in-house AK48 together with the well-known Gorilla Glue. The outcome is a Sativa-dominant hybrid – the manufacturer states 75% Sativa and 25% Indica – with great production potential. Nirvana gives the THC content as 25% and the CBD content as under 1%. The plants grow vigorous and slender and form large, dense, compact flowers with plenty of resin, which is why the manufacturer also sees the strain as a good candidate for resin extraction. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod: flowering only begins when the light cycle is switched to 12/12. If you would like to grow one of the two parents individually, you will also find AK-48 by Nirvana in our range.
Who Is GG-48 For?
GG-48 combines Sativa character with a hefty yield and plenty of resin. It suits:
- Sativa fans looking for a stimulating, sociable effect
- Indoor growers who work with topping and SCROG
- Yield-focused growers – the manufacturer states 600 g/m²
- Lovers of extracts who want to process particularly resinous flowers
- Consumers who are used to strong strains with 25% THC
GG-48 is less suitable if you are looking for a fast strain: around 10 weeks of flowering have to be planned for, and the slender plants need training. You can find more potent strains under Super High THC Content.
Growing GG-48: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, GG-48 flowers for about 10 weeks according to Nirvana and delivers 600 g per square metre. The vigorous, slender plants respond well to topping the shoot tip and to growing in a SCROG net – both help to steer growth sideways and distribute the light evenly. The manufacturer does not state a height in centimetres. The flowers become large, dense and compact; towards the end of flowering it is therefore worth ensuring good air movement and supporting heavy shoots with the net. You will find the basics on training and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Nirvana also lists GG-48 for growing outdoors. The manufacturer does not state a harvest month, a height or a yield per plant for this. As a photoperiod strain with around 10 weeks of flowering, it does not finish ripening outside until autumn; a warm, sunny spot sheltered from the wind is therefore the safe choice. You should tie up the slender plants in good time. You can find more strains for outdoors under outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of GG-48
According to Nirvana, the aroma of GG-48 combines woody, spicy and floral notes on an earthy, slightly sweet background. The manufacturer describes the strain as rich in terpenes and cannabinoids but does not name any individual terpenes or a lab profile. According to Nirvana, the effect is intense, stimulating and long-lasting; it is said to encourage conversation and good spirits – GG-48 is thus more a strain for sociable hours than for a quiet end to the day. With 25% THC and less than 1% CBD it is very strong. So start with small amounts: how intense the effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
