Genetics & Origin of Golden Tiger
In Golden Tiger, Ace Seeds has brought together several very potent, resinous Sativas from Malawi and Thailand. According to the breeder, the current version contains two Thai strains, Koh Chang Thai and Hmong Thai, as well as two Malawi parent plants: the Old Malawi Killer and the third-generation New Malawi Killer. Compared with its predecessor, the Thai influence is said to be stronger, the yield higher and the aroma more refined. The result is a 100% Sativa hybrid with great vegetative vigour, which Ace Seeds sees as an alternative to the Haze Sativas. The breeder states 20 to 25% THC, under 1% CBD and up to 1.1% CBG. The seeds are regular and photoperiod and therefore also of interest for your own selection. Alongside this version, we stock a second item, Golden Tiger by Ace Seeds.
Who Is Golden Tiger For?
Golden Tiger demands patience and rewards you with a pure Sativa experience. It suits:
- Sativa lovers looking for an alternative to Haze strains
- Growers who can plan for 11 to 15 weeks of flowering
- Selectors who choose mother and father plants from regular seeds
- Indoor gardeners who work with SCROG or SOG from clones
- Very practised consumers looking for a long, powerful effect
It is less suitable if you want to harvest quickly or have little experience with strong Sativas: Ace Seeds warns that the effect can be devastating for beginners. You can find more pure Sativas under 100% Sativa.
Growing Golden Tiger: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Ace Seeds gives the flowering time in the grow room as 11 to 15 weeks – factor that in when planning space and time. The plant grows as a very branched, elegant Sativa with thin leaves and medium internodal spacing. For small, columnar plants or SOG, the breeder recommends switching clones to 12/12 just a few days after rooting. Because of its productive side branches and its vigorous response to pruning, it is also suitable for SCROG and horizontal growing in a net. Rather low fertiliser doses are recommended throughout the entire cycle, especially for nitrogen. Ace Seeds calls the yield “high”, without a figure. You remove male plants if pollination is not wanted. More on this in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
According to the breeder, Golden Tiger shows its full potential in tropical and subtropical climates; however, it is also said to have been grown with very good results up to the 43rd parallel. Outdoors, harvest does not fall until November. Central Europe lies north of this range; here, realistically, only the grow room or a heated greenhouse remains. Ace Seeds credits the strain with very high resistance to botrytis and high resistance to heat. The breeder does not state a yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Golden Tiger
For the flavour, Ace Seeds describes floral, spicy and lemony Thai aromas against an organic, resinous Malawi background. The breeder calls the terpene profile complex and rich: among the monoterpenes, very high amounts of beta-myrcene, followed by limonene, linalool, ocimene, isopulegol, alpha- and beta-pinene, camphene and terpinolene in smaller amounts; among the sesquiterpenes, above all nerolidol 2, followed by beta-caryophyllene. It describes the effect as extreme and psychedelic: dense, stimulating and very long-lasting. At 20 to 25% THC, Golden Tiger is very potent; Ace Seeds recommends it only to the most experienced Sativa consumers and warns that it can overwhelm beginners. Approach it with small amounts – the intensity depends on dose and personal tolerance.
