Lazy Hippie Regular – Old-School Hybrid by Mandala Seeds
What is Lazy Hippie? Lazy Hippie by Mandala Seeds is a regular, photoperiod Sativa-Indica hybrid of Speed Queen × Early Heirloom Sativa. It flowers for 65 to 75 days indoors, grows to a medium height and, according to the breeder, yields 400 to 500 g/m²; outdoors it is ripe in mid to late September. Mandala describes the THC content only as medium to high. An aroma of incense, rosemary and rose, little smell during flowering and an uplifting, sociable high are typical. The undemanding, heat- and cold-resistant strain also suits beginners – in the regular cannabis seeds for beginners category. Available in a pack of 10 seeds.

Genetics & Origin of Lazy Hippie
Behind Lazy Hippie are Jasmin and Mike of Mandala Seeds, who describe their strain as an old-school cross of Speed Queen and an Early Heirloom Sativa. According to the breeder, the name goes back to the year 2022: a troll had called the two of them “lazy hippies” because their shop was closed over the summer as it is every year – the expression stuck as the strain name. The hybrid shows two clearly recognisable phenotypes. “Majoon” takes after Speed Queen, grows denser and shorter and flowers with orange pistils; “Joplin” is reminiscent of a Sativa, forms longer colas and strikingly long, lime-green to ivory-coloured pistils. The seeds are regular and photoperiod, so male and female plants are produced. Another regular strain from the breeder is Kalichakra Regular.
Who Is Lazy Hippie For?
Lazy Hippie is undemanding and, according to the breeder, beginner-friendly. It suits:
- Beginners who want to gain their first experience with regular seeds
- Outdoor gardeners in cooler regions with a short season
- Growers for whom little smell during flowering is important
- Organic gardeners who work in organic soil with little fertiliser
- Consumers looking for an alert, sociable high for the daytime
It is less suitable if you want exclusively female plants without selection or expect a particularly short flowering time – up to 75 days call for a little patience. You can find more lines under regular seeds.
Growing Lazy Hippie: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Lazy Hippie flowers for 65 to 75 days, i.e. a good nine to just under eleven weeks, and stays medium-sized. Mandala Seeds states 400 to 500 g/m². According to the breeder, the strain grows well even in low light; as a standard for flowering it recommends 400 W/m², and overall it gives 250 to 600 W HPS per square metre. It thrives in organic soil and needs few nutrients; in hydroponics, a low to medium EC value is best. SCROG and other low-stress techniques are suitable for the Joplin phenotype with its longer colas. Because the seeds are regular, you determine the sex in pre-flowering and remove male plants if pollination is not wanted. You can read more about this in the tips for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to Mandala, Lazy Hippie is one of the few Sativa hybrids that are adapted to the short season of colder climate zones. Depending on the location, harvest usually falls in the last two weeks of September; the breeder states 850 g and more per plant. According to its information, the strain was tested in heat of up to 48 °C and cold down to −3 °C, and also in the greenhouse between December and February. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Lazy Hippie
Mandala Seeds describes the aroma of ripe flowers as delicate: when touched, a scent of rosemary rises, and on inhaling an invigorating, herbal-sweet incense appears – like a walk in the woods after a rainy day. Cured flowers can additionally smell of rose; the fact sheet also lists sweet and hashy notes. The breeder does not give a lab terpene profile. During flowering, the strain smells only a little. Mandala describes the high as uplifting, expansive, functional and social: it is said to keep you alert and inspired and to promote creativity and sociability, but it also suits days when you simply want to laze around and daydream. There is no THC value as a percentage, only the classification medium to high. How strong the effect is depends on phenotype, dose and personal tolerance.
