Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of NL5 x Skunk
NL5 x Skunk brings together two lines that, according to the strain description, are among the most influential strains of all: Northern Lights #5 and Skunk #1. Nevil and Shantibaba are named as the breeders; the cross is brought to market by the Mr. Nice Seedbank. The result is an Indica-dominant hybrid that the manufacturer describes as powerful, robust and genetically stable. It does not quantify exact proportions of Indica and Sativa, and the THC content is also given only as medium to high. The seeds are regular and photoperiod. They therefore produce male and female plants, which makes the strain interesting for everyone who wants to select a mother plant or breed further with proven genetics. The Skunk side is available individually, for example, as Skunk #1 Regular by Barney's Farm, the Northern Lights side as Northern Lights Regular by Sensi Seeds.
Who Is NL5 x Skunk For?
NL5 x Skunk is a high-yielding, robust hybrid of two classics. It suits:
- Beginners who want to gain their first experience with regular seeds
- Selectors and hobby breeders who work with classic genetics
- Yield-focused indoor growers who plan for 7 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Outdoor and greenhouse growers who look for high mould resistance
- Consumers looking for a relaxing strain for the evening
If you want exclusively female plants without any selection work, feminised seeds are the better choice. You can find more regular lines of this kind under Classics and Landraces.
Growing NL5 x Skunk: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to the manufacturer, NL5 x Skunk flowers for 7 to 9 weeks and yields at least 600 g/m². The strain description calls the care easy and recommends the strain to beginners and yield fans alike. Mr. Nice does not give a plant height. Because the seeds are regular, it is best to germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep and determine the sex in pre-flowering; you take out male plants unless you want to pollinate. The skunky aroma is strong, so a carbon filter is part of the basic equipment. With such a high yield target, it is worth supporting heavy shoots in good time. You will find introductory knowledge under tips for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, NL5 x Skunk is ready for harvest in mid-October in the northern hemisphere and in March to April in the southern hemisphere. The manufacturer describes it as robust and weatherproof, cites high mould resistance and recommends it for all climate zones with moderate conditions as well as for the greenhouse. It does not state a yield per plant or a height. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of NL5 x Skunk
The manufacturer gives the scent of NL5 x Skunk as skunky-spicy with earthy undertones, the flavour as full-bodied, spicy and classic – the old-school aroma in a fresh form. It does not give a lab terpene profile. The effect is described as physically relaxing, pleasant and calming; Mr. Nice assigns the strain to the evening. The THC content is given without a figure as medium to high, and the strain description does not contain a CBD value. With regular seeds, individual plants can differ in aroma and strength, even though the manufacturer describes the genetics as stable. How intense the effect is depends on phenotype, harvest time, dose and personal tolerance.
