Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze
Northern Lights #5 × Haze belongs to the second wave of hybrid breeding, which, according to Sensi Seeds, also produced Silver Haze, Shiva Skunk and Silver Pearl – and, according to the breeder, it was the most successful of these strains. The cross combines a tropical Haze Sativa with the Afghan-influenced Northern Lights #5. What is special, according to the breeder, is that the Sativa genes are fully expressed and are not overlaid by the Indica side; Sensi gives 70% Sativa. When it was introduced, the strain swept the board at the cannabis competitions, according to the manufacturer, and showed that Sativa effect and Indica yield can be combined – for a few additional weeks of flowering. The seeds are regular and photoperiod. Sensi Seeds does not state a THC value. Another regular strain from the breeder is Big Bud Regular.
Who Is Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze For?
Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze is a strain for growers with patience and space. It suits:
- Haze lovers looking for a pronounced Sativa effect
- Selectors who want to choose a mother plant from regular seeds
- Growers who work with cuttings – the strain is considered very easy to clone
- Hobby breeders who use male plants for their own crosses
- Collectors of award-winning classics
If you have little headroom or want to harvest quickly, you are better served by a more compact strain. You can find more lines of this kind under regular Sativa strains.
Growing Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Sensi Seeds gives the flowering time as 65 to 75 days and expects a marked gain in height. The breeder therefore advises going into flower indoors with little or no vegetative phase at all – this makes up for the longer flowering time. Even rooted cuttings and seedlings that are put into flower immediately can reach over one metre by harvest. The gaps between the internodes quickly fill with long colas, which keep swelling right to the end. The yield is rated as XXL; the manufacturer does not state a figure in g/m². As the seeds are regular, you determine the sex in pre-flowering and remove male plants if no pollination is wanted. More on this in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, Sensi Seeds gives only one piece of climate information: sunny or Mediterranean. In the shop, the strain is classified as an indoor strain. Because of the flowering time of 65 to 75 days and the tall growth, you need a long, warm autumn and plenty of space outdoors; in cooler regions a greenhouse is the safer choice. The breeder does not state harvest month, height or yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze
Sensi Seeds is clear about the effect: the breeder speaks of a decidedly psychedelic Haze power and an overwhelming Sativa effect, complemented by the yield and resin coverage of Northern Lights #5. It regards the strain as enormously potent; however, it does not state a THC value. The strain description contains no information on aroma and flavour either, nor a terpene profile – we deliberately add nothing from other sources here. The flowers, by contrast, are described: sticky, very hairy and resinous, with terminal flowers that can become longer and thicker than a grower's arm. With regular seeds, individual plants differ. How the effect turns out for you depends on phenotype, dose and personal tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
