Genetics & Origin of Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze
Northern Lights #5 × Haze combines two opposing lines: a high-flying tropical Sativa and a lush Indica with an Afghan background. Sensi Seeds writes that the cross is generally regarded as the pinnacle of cannabis breeding and that many connoisseurs consider it unsurpassed. What matters, it says, is that the Sativa genes are fully expressed instead of being dominated by the Afghan parent – the Sativa share is 70%. According to the manufacturer, the psychedelic effect comes from Haze, while yield and resin come from Northern Lights #5. Seeds produce large, high-yielding and uniform plants that are very easy to clone. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. Sensi Seeds does not state a THC value. For breeders, the strain is also available as Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze Regular.
Who Is Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze For?
Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze is a Sativa classic with a long flowering time and vigorous vertical growth, which Sensi Seeds lists as a Cannabis Cup winner. It suits:
- Growers who can plan for 65 to 75 days of flowering
- Indoor growers with sufficient room height
- Growers working with cuttings who want to keep a long-lived mother plant
- Collectors of classic, award-winning genetics
- Consumers who appreciate a pronounced Haze effect
It is less suitable for low grow boxes and for anyone who would like to harvest quickly. You can find more Sativa-leaning strains under Sativa strains.
Growing Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Sensi Seeds gives a flowering time of 65 to 75 days and expects a marked gain in height. The breeder therefore advises sending the plants into flower with a short vegetative phase or none at all – this also makes up for the longer flowering time. Even rooted cuttings and seedlings that are put on 12/12 straight away can grow over a metre tall by harvest. The gaps between the internodes quickly fill with long colas; by the middle of flowering, stem and branches are completely covered in sticky flowers, which carry on swelling right to the end. According to the manufacturer, main colas can become longer and thicker than an arm – support them and ensure air movement. Sensi Seeds does not state a yield in g/m², only "XXL". The basics are in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
In the shop, the strain is rated for indoor growing only. The manufacturer gives "sunny/Mediterranean" as the suitable climate; it states no figures for height, yield per plant or harvest date outdoors. Outdoors it is therefore only an option in correspondingly warm, sunny locations. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Northern Lights Nr. 5 x Haze
Sensi Seeds gives no information on aroma and flavour in the strain description, nor does the manufacturer state a terpene profile – we deliberately add nothing here. What is described is the effect: the breeder speaks of a pronounced psychedelic Haze power that comes from the Sativa side and is not masked by the Indica parent. The strain is said to leave a lasting impression on consumers and growers alike. Added to this is the strong resin formation, which the manufacturer attributes to Northern Lights #5. It does not give a THC value. With a strain whose effect is emphasised so strongly, a cautious first dose makes sense. How intense it is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
