Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Royal AK
Royal AK is also known by the name AK-47 and, according to the strain description, is one of the best-known cannabis strains of modern times. According to the breeder, the genetics go back to four landraces: Colombian × Mexican × Thai × Afghan. This gave rise to a Sativa-dominant hybrid in a 60/40 ratio, which the manufacturer describes as one of the most awarded strains of all and puts at 16 Cannabis Cup awards. According to the manufacturer, the THC content is up to 19%, and the CBD content is low. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only sets in after the switch to 12/12. The plants are considered very robust and form dense, resinous flowers with few leaves. For comparison: we also stock AK-47 by Serious Seeds.
Who Is Royal AK For?
Royal AK is an uncomplicated all-rounder with a short flowering time. It suits:
- Beginners looking for a robust, low-maintenance and high-yielding strain
- Indoor growers who want to harvest after 8 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Outdoor gardeners who would like to be finished in early October
- Fans of classic genetics with a Cup history
- Consumers who appreciate a clear high with a relaxed body feeling
It is less suitable if smell is a problem: according to the manufacturer, Royal AK smells distinctive and pungent, and a carbon filter is a must indoors. If you need larger quantities of seeds, you will also find the strain under Bulk Seeds.
Growing Royal AK: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
In the grow room, Royal AK stays easy to manage at 80 to 140 cm and is ready for harvest after 8 to 9 weeks of flowering. Royal Queen Seeds states 525 to 575 g/m². The manufacturer describes the strain as very robust and low-maintenance; it does not name any particular training techniques. Air extraction is important: because of the strong smell, the breeder expressly recommends a carbon filter. The flowers are dense and resinous and carry only a few leaves. Good air movement keeps them dry in the final weeks. The tips for beginners in the Growpedia offer an introduction to climate, light and feeding.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Royal AK grows 130 to 170 cm tall. According to the manufacturer, harvest falls in early October and the yield is 600 to 650 g per plant. A sunny, sheltered spot helps to bring the dense flowers safely through early autumn; in the garden, too, bear in mind the strong smell towards the end of flowering. You can find more strains for open ground under feminised outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Royal AK
According to the manufacturer, Royal AK smells fruity and diesel-like with berry notes; for the flavour it cites sweetish and spicy tones with a hint of pine. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. Royal Queen Seeds describes the effect as euphoric, clear and long-lasting, with a physically relaxing finish – a balance of head and body effect for creative as well as quiet hours. The breeder speaks of a “one hit wonder”: even a single puff, it says, can be enough for a long-lasting, balanced high. The THC content is up to 19%, and the CBD content is low. Royal Queen Seeds recommends it to fans of potent strains with a clear effect and a long afterglow. How strong the effect is in an individual case depends on dose and individual tolerance.
