Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Somango XXL
For Somango XXL, Nirvana crossed the fruity Somango with the hybrid Critical 47. The outcome is an Indica-dominant hybrid with 75% Indica and 25% Sativa which, according to the breeder, combines strong mango and fruit-salad aromas with large harvests. The Indica side keeps the plants short, squat and bushy; according to Nirvana, the Sativa side shows itself in flowering through strongly swelling flowers. The manufacturer describes the strain as very uniform and as decidedly resinous – suitable for extracts, hashish and dry sift. Its resilience has also been further improved, by its account. The strain description does not state a THC or CBD value. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so they only flower after the switch to 12/12. If you prefer to grow autoflowers, you will also find Auto Somango XXL in our range.
Who Is Somango XXL For?
Somango XXL combines tropical aroma with high yields. It suits:
- Beginners looking for a strain that stays short and, according to the manufacturer, is easy to care for
- Growers who want to grow in a Sea of Green
- Yield-focused growers who have their humidity under control
- Fans of mango and fruit-salad aromas, including in extracts
- Consumers who appreciate a clear, creative effect for the daytime
It is less suitable for permanently damp locations because, according to the manufacturer, it can suffer from mould at high humidity. You can find more strains of this type under Indica strains.
Growing Somango XXL: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Somango XXL flowers for 56 to 70 days depending on the phenotype: according to Nirvana, the fastest plants are finished after 56 days, while higher-yielding phenotypes need the full 70. The strain stays short, squat and bushy, hardly stretches after the start of flowering and, according to the manufacturer, is ideally suited to a Sea of Green. It reckons with 650 g/m². Nirvana recommends pruning the plants at least twice during the vegetative phase under 18/6 so that a dense, bushy canopy develops. Keep an eye on humidity: according to the manufacturer, resistance to pathogens is good, but mould can occur at high humidity. You will find tips for getting started in the Growpedia for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
For outdoors, Nirvana recommends planting in spring in a south-facing spot, a large fabric pot – the breeder gives 100 litres as an example – and training. The final height is up to 140 cm, and harvest falls in early October depending on where you live. Under the right conditions, 1,000 g per plant are possible; bamboo stakes or a sturdy net secure the branches. According to the manufacturer, the strain tolerates heat and drought well, as it does colder regions with short summers. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Somango XXL
Nirvana describes the aroma of Somango XXL as a fruit cocktail of mango, peach and mandarin with earthy citrus notes. The flavour stays with a gentle fruit-salad blend with mild earthy and floral overtones. The breeder does not list individual terpenes – the manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. Despite 75% Indica, the effect is said to be very balanced and to do without the typical effects of Indica-rich strains: Nirvana calls it upbeat and creative, with clarity, alertness and a gentle body feeling, and also recommends it for starting the day. The manufacturer does not give a THC value; in the shop the strain is rated in the 11 to 19% class, which is only an approximation. The intensity depends on dose and tolerance.
