Growing Sour Diesel: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
DNA Genetics states a full 10 weeks of flowering for Sour Diesel – according to the breeder, that is how much time the strain needs to unfold its potential. The manufacturer states a yield of 450 to 550 g/m². The plants stretch above all in the first three weeks of flowering; the breeder recommends pinching and bending the tops to control the stretch and increase the yield. Where space is tight, DNA Genetics advises sending rooted cuttings straight into flowering: this way a final height of 1 to 1.3 metres is achievable. According to the manufacturer, the strain is not particularly sensitive to nutrients, which also suits beginners. You will find tips for getting started in the Growpedia for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, DNA Genetics gives no data of its own in the strain description. In the shop the strain is rated for a harvest in October and as very tall-growing; the manufacturer does not give a yield per plant. The long flowering time calls for a sunny, sheltered spot with plenty of space, and in cooler locations a greenhouse is the safer choice. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Sour Diesel
DNA Genetics describes the flavour of Sour Diesel as intensely sour and earthy with a long-lasting aftertaste – according to the breeder, it stays on the tongue long after exhaling. The scent is fresh and citrusy with a distinct diesel note. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. It gives the effect as euphoric, stimulating and cerebral and recommends the strain for the daytime, to encourage creativity or as a companion for activities. DNA Genetics rates the potency as strong, but the strain description does not state a THC value – so we do not add a figure. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance; with a strain described as strong, it is worth starting low.
