Genetics & Origin of Sunset Sherbert
At Helvetic Seeds, Sunset Sherbert is a cross of the Original Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. In its own words, the breeder owes the genetics to a fellow American breeder. Helvetic Seeds gives the ratio as 70% Indica to 30% Sativa. For the breeder, this strain brings together what it values in cannabis: excellent flavour, an enormous yield and a flowering time that is not too long. In addition, the plants grow very uniformly, and it calls the resin content of the flowers sensational. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so they only flower after the switch to 12/12. Helvetic Seeds does not state a THC value; the strain is listed in the class above 19%. If you would like to compare, you will find a Girl Scout Cookies and a Sunset Sherbet from other breeders in our range.
Who Is Sunset Sherbert For?
Sunset Sherbert combines a high yield with even growth. It suits:
- Yield-focused growers – the breeder rates production as very high
- Growers who value uniform stands, as the strain grows very uniformly
- Indoor gardeners who would like to harvest after 9 weeks of flowering
- Lovers of resinous flowers and sweet aromas
- Growers who need larger quantities: there are packs of up to 100 seeds
It is less suitable for outdoor locations with a wet, cool autumn, because harvest is not due until mid-October. You can find more strains in large packs under bulk seeds.
Growing Sunset Sherbert: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Sunset Sherbert flowers for 9 weeks according to Helvetic Seeds. The breeder rates the yield as very high, at over 500 g/m². Because the plants grow very uniformly, an even canopy is comparatively easy to maintain – practical when several plants are under one lamp. The breeder does not state a height in centimetres. The growth is described as dense, and the flowers are heavily covered in resin; so make sure there is good air movement in the final weeks and use an activated carbon filter against the smell. As a photoperiod strain, it only starts flowering after the switch to 12/12. You can read more about climate and lighting in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the breeder, Sunset Sherbert is ready for harvest in mid-October and delivers over 500 g per plant. It therefore needs a spot that gets sun well into autumn; a warm, dry location is recommended. Where October is regularly wet, a greenhouse or rain protection is the safer choice. Helvetic Seeds does not give a height for outdoor growing. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Sunset Sherbert
Helvetic Seeds praises the flavour of Sunset Sherbert as excellent but does not go into more detail. The aroma is given as citrus fruit and berries with sweet caramel and a slightly earthy note. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The effect is described as pleasantly balanced: it relaxes body and mind and can at times turn distinctly euphoric; there is no statement on this from the breeder itself. The breeder does not state an exact THC value, the strain is in the class above 19%; no CBD value is quantified. Helvetic Seeds calls the resin content of the flowers sensational. This places it among the stronger strains; how intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
