Genetics & Origin of Super Skunk
Super Skunk is one of the classics in White Label's catalogue. According to the breeder, the strain combines the uncomplicated vigour of Skunk #1 with the resin power of an old Afghan landrace; it gives the cross as Skunk #1 × Afghani Hashplant. This results in a clearly Indica-leaning hybrid with 80% Indica and 20% Sativa. According to the strain description, Super Skunk came onto the market in 1990 and immediately won the Cannabis Cup in the "Mostly Indica" category. White Label does not give THC and CBD values; the breeder merely rates the THC content as high. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. White Label also has a Skunk #1 in its catalogue as Skunk Nr 1; if you would like to select, you will also find Super Skunk Regular.
Who Is Super Skunk For?
Super Skunk is a fast, reliable classic with a very strong smell. It suits:
- Beginners in growing who are looking for a dependably growing strain
- Growers who want to harvest after 45 to 50 days of flowering
- Indoor growers who work in a Sea of Green or ScrOG
- Gardeners with a greenhouse or a warm summer location
- Skunk fans who appreciate the classic, sharp and spicy aroma
It is less suitable for anyone who has to grow with little odour, and for inexperienced consumers: White Label calls the strain "easier to grow than to smoke". You can find more uncomplicated strains under cannabis seeds for beginners.
Growing Super Skunk: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to White Label, Super Skunk flowers for just 45 to 50 days and grows to an average height. The breeder rates the yield as very high without stating a figure in g/m², and recommends the strain for Sea of Green or ScrOG. The plants grow reliably and powerfully and form huge, sticky colas. The smell is so intense that the manufacturer calls a good filter system for indoors a must – so plan in the carbon filter from the start. Good air movement keeps the thick flowers dry in the final weeks. You will find help getting started in the tips for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, White Label names a temperate to continental climate as suitable. According to the breeder, the yield is large and can easily be achieved in a warm summer or in a greenhouse; it does not state a figure per plant, a plant height or a harvest month. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot and support the heavy colas in good time. Bear the strong Skunk smell in mind in the garden, too. You can find more strains for outdoors under outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Super Skunk
White Label calls the scent of Super Skunk legendary: intensely skunky with earthy and spicy undertones. For the flavour, the breeder describes sharp, spicy, classic Skunk notes with a note of hash. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. It describes the effect as strongly relaxing, physical and long-lasting, complemented by a slight Sativa kick. White Label does not give a THC value and rates the content only as high. At the same time the breeder warns that the smoke is not for beginners – as uncomplicated as the plant is to grow, its effect is just as strong. So start with small amounts. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
