Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Top 44
According to Nirvana, Top 44 was created with speed in mind. To this end, the breeder crossed Skunk #1 with Viking, which it calls its best Afghani. The outcome is a short, stocky and very resilient hybrid whose Indica dominance shows in its low, bushy growth; Nirvana does not state a ratio in per cent. According to the manufacturer, the strain tests at 15 to 20% THC. Nirvana counts it among the fastest-flowering hybrids of all and therefore also calls it its “Top Girl”. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched. You will also find one of the two parent strains in our range as Skunk #1 by Barney's Farm.
Who Is Top 44 For?
Top 44 is a fast, undemanding strain for small areas. It suits:
- Beginners looking for a forgiving strain that is easy to care for
- Indoor growers with limited room height
- Sea of Green gardeners who rely on short runs
- Balcony and terrace gardeners with a sunny spot
- Consumers who like earthy Skunk aromas and a relaxing effect
It is less suitable for anyone who has to grow with little odour or expects a markedly cerebral high – the aroma is strong and the effect more body-focused. You can find more fast strains under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Top 44: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Nirvana gives the flowering time as 7 to 9 weeks after the vegetative phase. The plants stay low and bushy; in flowering, however, they double their height according to the manufacturer, forming a main cola and high-yielding side branches in the process. For the Sea of Green, in which the strain works particularly well according to the breeder, it states 400 to 500 g/m². According to Nirvana, topping and LST are good options; the short internodes and the dense, golf-ball-sized buds make trimming easy. Because the aroma is very strong and lingers in the air for a long time, an activated carbon filter is part of the basic equipment. You will find the most important basics in the tips for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
Outside, according to Nirvana, Top 44 performs very well in all climate zones and, because of its fast flowering, is particularly recommended for regions with shorter summers. Thanks to its low growth it also fits on sunny balconies and terraces. The manufacturer does not state a fixed harvest date or a yield per plant for open ground. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Top 44
According to Nirvana, Top 44 develops a pungent, earthy and skunky aroma that can linger in the air for a long time. The breeder describes the flavour as deep, earthy and full, with a classic, floral Skunk funk that is meant to appeal above all to fans of Kush hybrids. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. By its description, the effect is more calming than cerebral: at first a balanced high with clarity and motivation is in the foreground, and after a while the physical side comes through more clearly – a strain for relaxing. It tests at 15 to 20% THC. How strong the effect feels to you depends on dose and individual tolerance.
