Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Tutankhamon
According to Pyramid Seeds, Tutankhamon goes back directly to AK-47: the breeder deliberately developed the strain from an elite selection of this genetics. The result was a compact, heavily branched hybrid with 60% Sativa and 40% Indica that forms very resinous flowers. Pyramid Seeds puts the THC content at 26% and the CBD content at under 1%. According to the manufacturer, Tutankhamon was recognised at Spannabis 2011 in Barcelona as one of the strains richest in THC, as tested by Energy Control. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched to 12/12. If you would like to grow an AK-47 for comparison, you will find, for example, AK-47 by Serious Seeds in our range; from Pyramid Seeds itself there is also Galaxy.
Who Is Tutankhamon For?
Tutankhamon combines a high THC content with compact growth. It suits:
- Indoor growers who want to harvest plenty of potency from a small area
- Fans of AK-47 genetics who would like to try a selection from it
- Growers who plan with around 60 days of flowering
- Lovers of fresh, fruity, sweet aromas with a slightly spicy note
- Consumers looking for an energetic, long-lasting effect for creative phases
It is less suitable if you are looking for a calming evening strain or have only little tolerance for very potent strains. You can find more high-yielding strains for indoors under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Tutankhamon: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
According to the manufacturer, Tutankhamon grows 75 to 150 cm tall indoors and flowers for about 60 days. Pyramid Seeds gives 500 g/m² as the standard yield; under LED lighting, up to 900 to 1,000 g on 1.5 m² is said to be possible. The breeder describes the plants as rather small, compact and heavily branched, with a high density of strong, resinous flowers. The heavy branching is easy to organise with a net so that the light reaches all the shoots. Densely packed plants need good air movement in late flowering, and an activated carbon filter helps against the intense smell. You will find the basics on light, climate and feeding in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to Pyramid Seeds, harvest in Europe falls in mid to late September; for Latin America, the breeder names March. It gives the yield as 0.5 to 1.5 kg per plant. It does not state a growth height for outdoors; the plants are considered compact and productive and, according to the manufacturer, are therefore suitable for inconspicuous growing. A sunny, sheltered spot is the best starting point. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Tutankhamon
Pyramid Seeds describes the scent of Tutankhamon as fresh, fruity and sweet, and the flavour as fruity with a slightly spicy note. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. It describes the effect as long-lasting, psychoactive and energetic, combined with a clear, cerebral kick; it recommends the strain for creative phases or intense experiences. This fits the Sativa share of 60%. With 26% THC according to the manufacturer, Tutankhamon is one of the strong strains; Pyramid Seeds gives the CBD content as under 1%. So approach it with small amounts. How intense the effect is in an individual case depends on dose and individual tolerance.
