Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake is one of the US genetics that Original Sensible Seeds has brought to the European market as feminised seeds. The cross is Girl Scout Cookies × Cherry Pie. Via the Cookies side, the strain is related to Gelato, which according to the breeder shares this line of descent, and it also traces the high potency back to the same side: it names OG Kush and Durban Poison as the grandparents. The ratio is 80% Indica to 20% Sativa, and Original Sensible Seeds gives the THC content as 25%; no CBD value is stated. The seeds are photoperiod and only flower after the switch to 12/12. Both parent lines are available individually in our range: Girl Scout Cookies from the same breeder and Cherry Pie by Female Seeds.
Who Is Wedding Cake For?
Wedding Cake is a high-yielding dessert strain with a lot of THC. It suits:
- Lovers of sweet aromas of vanilla, cookie dough and cherry
- Indoor growers who would like to harvest after around nine weeks of flowering
- Yield-focused gardeners aiming for 500 to 600 g/m²
- Outdoor growers with room for plants 120 to 180 cm tall
- Consumers with tolerance who can gauge 25% THC
If you are looking for a mild strain or a purely stimulating Sativa high, Wedding Cake is less advisable for you. You can find more Indica-leaning strains under Indica strains.
Growing Wedding Cake: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
In the data sheet, Original Sensible Seeds states a flowering time of 56 to 63 days, while elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of about 60 to 65 days – so plan for around nine weeks and decide on the basis of the trichomes. The plants grow 90 to 140 cm tall indoors. For yield, the breeder gives 500 to 600 g/m² under optimal conditions. With topping and a net, the canopy can be kept even. A carbon filter helps against the smell, and good air movement keeps dense flowers dry in the final weeks. You will find the basics on climate and training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Wedding Cake reaches 120 to 180 cm according to the manufacturer. Original Sensible Seeds states a yield of 800 g per plant or more. The breeder does not give a harvest month; go by the ripeness of the trichomes and choose a sunny, sheltered spot where the plants stay dry into autumn. You should support heavy side branches in good time. You can find more strains for outdoors under outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Wedding Cake
The name says it all: Original Sensible Seeds describes the aroma as sweet vanilla icing, creamy cookie dough and a subtle dark cherry note. Alongside this, the breeder names zesty, sweet, earthy and peppery flavour notes. It gives limonene, myrcene and caryophyllene as the dominant terpenes. According to the manufacturer, the effect sets in with a euphoric, uplifting feeling in the head and is accompanied by deep physical relaxation – you are said to feel very relaxed, happy and at the same time stimulated. At 25% THC, Wedding Cake is a strong strain for which cautious dosing is advisable. How intense its effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
