Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of White Widow
Dutch Passion calls White Widow an absolute classic, the winner of countless prizes and a strain with the reputation of being among the most potent ever bred. According to the breeder, the company's line came into being a great many years ago; it lists it as original White Widow F1 genetics from the 80s. It is based on the cross of Brazilian and Indian parent plants, from which, according to Dutch Passion, the pronounced vigour effect stems. The company's genetics specialists have further optimised the plant and stabilised its best traits. The strain description does not state an Indica/Sativa ratio. This variant is regular and photoperiod. If you want exclusively female plants, you will also find the feminised White Widow by Dutch Passion in our range, along with the autoflowering Auto White Widow.
Who Is White Widow For?
As regular seed, this White Widow is above all working material for selection and breeding. It suits:
- Selectors who choose their mother plant from several plants
- Hobby breeders who set up their own crosses with male plants
- Collectors of classic genetics which, according to the breeder, go back to the 80s
- Lovers of resinous flowers with a spicy aroma
- Consumers with tolerance who appreciate a very potent high
If you want to grow only female plants without any selection work, regular seeds are not the best choice. You can find more lines of this kind under regular seeds.
Growing White Widow: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Dutch Passion describes its White Widow as a strong, very vigorous plant that turns out extremely consistent and copes with every cultivation method. The breeder promises high yields of flowers of excellent quality that are lavishly covered in resin glands. In the strain description it gives no figures for flowering time, plant height and yield in g/m². As a photoperiod strain, White Widow only flowers after the switch to 12/12. Because these are regular seeds, it is best to germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep and determine the sex in pre-flowering; male plants are removed unless pollination is planned. Because of the spicy aroma, a carbon filter makes sense. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
According to Dutch Passion, customers report very good results indoors, in the greenhouse and outdoors – outdoors, however, expressly in warm climate zones. In cooler regions a greenhouse is therefore the safer choice. The breeder does not state a harvest date, a height or a yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of White Widow
Among the true hallmarks of its White Widow, Dutch Passion counts a powerful, spicy aroma as well as an authentic smell and flavour of the kind that fans of the strain expect from the original. The manufacturer does not name individual aroma notes or a lab terpene profile. It describes the high as extremely strong and incredibly potent – an effect which, in its words, is as admired as it is feared. The strain description gives no further details on whether it tends to be stimulating or calming, and Dutch Passion does not give a THC value either; we deliberately do not add any estimates on this. The flowers are strikingly densely covered in resin glands. How intense the effect is in an individual case depends on phenotype, dose and individual tolerance.
