Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Züri Widow
Züri Widow is Genehtik's version of a European classic. Its basis is White Widow Afghan, which became known as a Swiss clone-only strain from Zurich; the breeder itself speaks of a very special White Widow that was selected years ago. Genehtik does not name a crossing partner. The strain is classified as a powerful Indica with some Sativa influence; the manufacturer does not give a percentage ratio. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod – flowering begins after the switch to 12/12. Genehtik describes Züri Widow as a multiple award winner but does not list specific prizes or years. The breeder does not state a THC value, and the potency is described as high; the CBD content is not stated. For comparison with another line of the classic, the White Widow by Dutch Passion is a good option.
Who Is Züri Widow For?
Züri Widow is considered uncomplicated and resilient. It suits:
- Beginners looking for a low-maintenance, stable strain
- Fans of classic White Widow genetics with plenty of resin
- Indoor growers with little space who prefer compact plants
- Open-ground gardeners in regions with changeable, damper weather
- Consumers who appreciate physical relaxation with a clear head
It is less suitable for anyone looking for sweet, fruity aromas – the profile is spicy and tart. Outdoors, you should also plan for space, because the manufacturer states very high yields per plant there. You can find similarly speedy strains under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Züri Widow: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Genehtik gives the flowering time as 58 to 70 days, i.e. a good 8 to 10 weeks; elsewhere there is talk of about 8 weeks. According to the manufacturer, Züri Widow is a small plant that is well suited to hydroponics – the growth is compact and bushy. As the yield, the breeder states 450 to 550 g/m². The strain is considered stable and low-maintenance, which makes it interesting for a first grow of your own. Because of the heavy resin coverage, good air movement is worthwhile in the final weeks. Genehtik does not state a height in centimetres. The tips for beginners in the Growpedia offer an introduction to climate, light and feeding.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to Genehtik, Züri Widow grows into a broad bush of medium height. In the northern hemisphere, harvest is from September to October. The manufacturer states 1,450 to 1,950 g per plant – with such quantities, expect sprawling plants that need plenty of space and sturdy supports. The strain is described as resistant to mould and is said to cope with changeable weather and damper regions too; the greenhouse is likewise mentioned. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Züri Widow
Züri Widow smells spicy-earthy with a fresh, slightly resinous note; Genehtik also describes the aroma as penetrating, woody like oak and floral. In flavour, the strain is strong, tart and slightly sweet – typical White Widow. The manufacturer does not name individual terpenes or a lab profile. The effect is described as physically relaxing, mentally clear and pleasantly strong, fitting for periods of rest, creative projects or sociable evenings. Genehtik speaks of a powerful Indica. The breeder does not state a THC value; the content is merely rated as high. So start with a small amount: how intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
