Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Auto Gelato
Gelato is one of the American strains of the younger generation and goes back to Sunset Sherbet and Girl Scout Cookies in the Thin Mint phenotype. By its own account, Original Sensible Seeds has been working on an autoflowering version ever since the breeder acquired the genetics with which the photoperiod original could be reproduced. For Auto Gelato, this line was crossed with Girl Scout Cookies Auto: (Sunset Sherbet × Girl Scout Cookies) × Girl Scout Cookies Auto. The manufacturer states 55% Indica and 45% Sativa as well as 20% THC; it does not give a CBD value. From the original, the autoflower takes over the purple hues, the fiery orange hairs and the intense resin production. The seeds are feminised. You will also find both the photoperiod Gelato and Auto Girl Scout Cookies by Original Sensible Seeds with us.
Who Is Auto Gelato For?
Auto Gelato is a colourful dessert strain with a short cycle. It suits:
- Gelato fans who do not want to wait for a photoperiod flowering time
- Growers who would like to get from seed to harvest in 70 to 75 days
- Indoor gardeners with tents for plants of around 80 to 100 cm
- Lovers of purple flowers and creamy, sweet aromas
- Consumers looking for physical relaxation without writing off the day
If you expect high yields per plant outdoors, you are less well served with around 100 to 150 g. You can find more autoflowers under best autoflowering seeds.
Growing Auto Gelato: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
For Auto Gelato, Original Sensible Seeds states 70 to 75 days from seed to harvest – this means the entire life cycle; the manufacturer does not give a separate flowering time. The plants grow 80 to 100 cm tall on average; the data sheet sets the range more widely at 60 to 120 cm. The breeder puts the indoor yield at up to 500 g/m². As an autoflower, the strain needs no light switch but hardly forgives lost days: an undisturbed start in the final pot pays off. You can learn more about light and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, the manufacturer states around 100 g per plant; the data sheet gives a higher value of 150 g. The data sheet also gives the height for outdoors as 60 to 120 cm. Because the cycle only lasts a good ten weeks, you determine the harvest date through sowing – ideally so that flowering and ripening fall in the sunniest weeks. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Auto Gelato
For the aroma, Original Sensible Seeds cites creamy, sweet dessert notes, accompanied by a little citrus. The manufacturer names caryophyllene, limonene and humulene as the defining terpenes; the data sheet lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene. It portrays the effect as balanced: mood-lifting at first, after which a heavy physical relaxation sets in. Nevertheless, it says, enough room remains for productivity and creativity if you enjoy Auto Gelato during the day. At 20% THC the strain is strong; the breeder does not state a CBD value. Visually, it stands out for its purple tones, orange hairs and plenty of resin. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
